Raúl Sánchez

Raúl is the former City of Redmond Poet Laureate 2019-2021. He was a member of (WITS), Writers In The Schools through Seattle Arts and Lectures. Currently, a poetry mentor at Denny and Mercer International Middle Schools through the Jack Straw Cultural Center. He held the Inaugural Poet in Residence position for the City of Burien 2018-2019. He volunteered for PONGO Teen Writing in the Juvenile Detention Center. Raúl is a translator and the author of two books. “All Our Brown-Skinned Angels”, nominated for the 2013 Washington State Book Award in Poetry, published by Moon Path Press 2012 and “When There Were No Borders” published by Flower Song Press 2021. He is a 2014 Jack Straw Writers Alumni. He was one of the mentors and judges for the 2014 Poetry on Buses Project and that same year participated in the TEDx Salon event in Yakima WA.
